Your online how-to manual for making the most of your Road Trips!
In this blog, How To Use This Website, I will walk you through the features of this online planner, as I want this journey to be easily navigated!
I am Janelle Brian, and my husband, Eddie and I now travel in our tiny trailer as much as time and finances allow. We have enjoyed it so much, that I created this website, Road Trips and Tiny Trailers to help you make the most of your trips as well!
(You can read our story and how we got started traveling in a tiny trailer, Here.)
*********************************************
This article, (How To Use This Website), will help you navigate all the information available here on our website.
Remember to hover over blog titles – until they turn green – to open the entire article!
In Blog style, this planner will take you from help with choosing the right trailer, to helping you design an itinerary, and then on to providing information that will help you make the most of what you will be seeing and doing.
And there is so much more!
Road Trips and Tiny Trailers divides the U.S. into 9 Regions.
Find the list of which states are in which regions HERE. (You can also find this information in the ‘U.S. in 9 Regions category).
Much of the information provided on this website refers to those regions, so when planning an itinerary, keep in mind which region you are heading for!
*******************************************
Here are the Top Row Categories:
TRAILERS: has advice and questionnaires for choosing the right trailer for you, what and how to pack, and much more…
PLAN A TRIP: defines ‘route styles’ and helps you figure out how to make a detailed itinerary. It also helps you and your partner(s) determine how to choose what you’ll be doing and seeing with a fun questionnaire (see link below).
20 MINUTES in CO: is fun to look at if you are passing through my personal home state of Colorado. It gives you the best places to pull over and stretch your legs, use the restroom or have a picnic, along the interstates that pass through Colorado. Each blog is oriented from Denver.
MEALS: is an ongoing list of recipes and meal planning ideas. These recipes are listed by Breakfast/Lunch/Supper and the amount of time you have for that meal. Take a look at ‘Read First’ and then everything else is listed after. If you have a great tip or recipe, then I’d love to hear from you…we can add it to the site!
HEALTH ON THE ROAD:contains blogs on staying healthy while your traveling. It also has advice on things like altitude sickness, and other problems that come up.
PHOTOS & MEMORIES: provides blogs about how to make the most of your photos. (For you ‘pros’ with the fancy equipment…you might still benefit from the blogs here). The info is aimed at the amateur with a compact camera, and also gives some other ideas about how to preserve your memories.
*******************************************
The FUN FACTS Categories are my favorites, and they are intended to be used while you’re on the road and actually seeing and learning about these things. The more you know about what you’re seeing, the more you get out of what you’re seeing!
There are 4 Fun Facts Categories, and they each use both the Bullet-Point style presentation.
3 of these categories refer to the 9 Regions of the U.S. so be sure to know what region you are in!
Here are the Middle Row Categories:
FUN FACTS: ART & ARCHITECTURE: Here you will first find a ‘How To Use This Category’ blog, followed by an Architectural Summary blog and an Art Summary blog. Lot’s of good info there… and no quiz! Following that, look for your region and see what you can learn and identify.
FUN FACTS: HISTORY: Once again, you’ll find a helpful ‘How To’ blog, followed by blogs that are divided by Regions. When you find your Region, you’ll notice that the history bullet points focus on the history that this Region is most know for.
FUN FACTS: RELIGION: Following the same ‘How To’ blog, and then blogs divided by region, you’ll find interesting information on how that Region’s religion has helped shape it’s identity.
FUN FACTS: LANDSCAPES: This Category is unique in that instead of being divided by region (because…well…there are trees, etc in every region), it is divided by Landscapes. First read your ‘How To’ and then scroll down to find the terrain that you are in. Did you know that fire in a Coniferous Forest is vital for the health and diversity of the forest? Keep reading………..!

Here are the Bottom Row Categories:
*THE U.S. IN 9 REGIONS: shares our personal blogs and stories about traveling in a particular region. These accounts may possibly give you itinerary ideas or spark an interest in a specific place. If not, then I hope you enjoy the blogs! This, of course, is an on-going category, so keep checking back!
*BEING CLAY: contains blogs with a spiritual emphasis. We believe that there’s no greater way to get to know our creator than to experience Him through travel! We see Him through art, architecture, culture and just getting outside our comfort zone!
*LESSONS FROM THE ROAD: provides blogs about things we’ve learned about ourselves & making the most out of life through travel. Enjoy and laugh a little with us!
*CRUSIN’: is a category for blogs about…you guessed it…cruising. There’s information about cruise ports. This might be helpful for your planning if you are taking a cruise. Variety is the spice of life after all, and our trailer doesn’t do so well on the water…
*ACROSS THE POND: is where you will find blogs about overseas travel. No matter how awesome tiny camping is, it’s important now and again to get out of the country!
PHOTOSTOCK: is my personal gallery of photos that are currently available for sale online.
*******************************************
This is in no way a complete list of facts, but just a few to make what you are traveling to see a little more interesting. Give these ‘Fun Facts’ a look!
*Watch for the links that can help you navigate around the information blogs about your region!*
