It’ll take you about 5 mins or so to reach the Ten Mile Canyon Trail Parking – which you’ll find as you veer to the left. Here’s where you can stretch your legs and use the restroom. You can also read a little about Vail Country and the Mount of the Holy Cross. You will find picnic tables, but I recommend pressing on.

From here, head back North toward the Black Lakes Picnic Site along ten Mile Canyon Trail Rd. This is a great place for a tailgate picnic! Lake number 2 is just walking distance up the road, but it’s hard to get to the water’s edge. I would spend my ’20 mins’ at Lake Number 1. This is a great place to hike around, do some quick fishing, or just enjoy the deep blue water, mossy green hill sides and the surrounding mountain peaks. These photos were taken in mid summer, and snow was still visible on the more distant peaks.

Don’t be fooled though, by the path to the little out building…it’s not a restroom!

It is so pretty! How are the crowds?
When we were there in July, we counted 6 other people between the 2 lakes and the rest stop. What a treat! Thanks for reading!
Certainly "come hither" pics!
